The Lost Bikes is a picture book that creates characters from fitness equipment familiar to families interested in contemporary fitness such as kettlebells, dumbbells, and jump ropes. These equipment pieces come to life while siblings Benjy and Jewel search for bikes buried in a crowded garage to enjoy the outside before a storm stops their plans. Along the way to retrieve their bikes, the children learn from Balloo and Belle about all of the equipment which their parents use. Some equipment is friendly to their path to find the bikes while other equipment pieces challenge the limits of the siblings’ abilities. Intertwined with the narrative story, the Lost Bikes includes pages which explain simple exercises fitness-minded families can perform together.
