The London Underground Pictorial Series returns with the third volume. This latest edition contains more than 100 previously unpublished colour photographs featuring all eleven London Underground lines, and all of the train types currently in passenger service.
The past year has seen the new S Stock trains take over all services on the sub-surface railway, finally ousting the D Stock from the District Line. While the book includes plenty of pictures of the S Stock in action, there are also photographs of the ‘D Stock Farewell Railtour’.
As with the previous two books, there is a feature on the Underground’s rarely seen engineering fleet which includes the battery locomotives, Schöma diesel locomotives, plus a look behind the scenes at Ruislip Depot.
This volume finishes with chapters on the station buildings designed by Leslie Green, the 2017 ‘Vintage Summer Steam’ event and a nostalgic look back at the ‘Steam on the Met’ events which took place in the 1990s and 2000.
