Inhaltsangabe:

Is regarded as the most important response to the philosophies of desire, as expounded by thinkers such as de Sade, Nietzsche, Bataille, Foucault and Deleuze and Guattari. It is a major work not only of philosophy, but of sexual politics, semiotics and literary theory, that signals the passage to postmodern philosophy.

Über den Autor: Jean-Francois Lyotard (1924-1998) was Professor of Philosophy at several universities in Paris and at the University of California at Irvine. A member of the Marxist group, Socialisme ou barbarie, until his disaffection in the early 1970s, he later went on to be one of the founding figures of postmodernism with his work The Postmodern Condition.
