Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

1957. Reprint. 172pp., illustrated double title-page and other full-page and in-text black and white illustrations by Christine Price, and a map. Henry Treece (1911-1966) was an English teacher, poet, and writer of historical novels for both adults and children. Legions of the Eagle is the story of Gwydion, son of a Belgic chieftain, a brave boy who lived at a tome when courage was needed to face the world. The story opens on the eve of the battle of Camulodunum, when many of the Celtic tribes, led by their king Caratacus, faced the full might of the legions, and it is on this momentous day in British history, that Gwydion's adventure began. The book is bound in the original light blue boards with red titling and a small illustration on the spine and a larger illustration on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping to the bottom front corner and light bumping with some fading to the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with a name and address written on the front free endpaper. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some soiling and the spine is browned. The top edge is rubbed with some creasing and chipping and up to about 1/2" is missing from parts of the spine ends. Small tears at the top of the spine and top rear spine edge have been repaired on the reverse with document repair tape.…
