Leading for Innovation brings together Clayton M. Christensen, Jim Collins, Howard Gardner, Charles Handy, Rosabeth Moss Kanter, C. William Pollard, Margaret Wheatley, and other thought leaders to offer practical guidance for those who seek to lead their organizations to a new dimension of performance. Leading for Innovation explores the unique qualities required to lead innovators and shows the way to develop a culture that promotes innovation. The contributors encourage readers to take the time to think about innovation and describe how leaders must abandon practices that no longer work for advancing the practice of innovation. Leading for Innovation also offers specific examples of the hands-on work needed to make innovation a reality for leaders and their organizations.
These thoughtful and incisive essays will help leaders everywhere take their organizations and communities to a new level of excellence through the strategic use of innovation. "From a vision of moving the power of innovation across the country and beyond, we see the shadows of Peter Drucker's wisdom of nearly fifty years ago, two functions-marketing and innovation-enable organizations to further their impact and change lives beyond the local community. although the wisdom is unchanged, not so for the ways that success travels.... Leadership is needed to support innovation in organizations and communities across the country and the world. It must be leaders who focus on performance and results and then discover all the ways for success to travel." --from the foreword by Frances Hesselbein
