From rodeos to wickets – love doesn’t play fair. A transatlantic love story for fans of RIVALS AND NOTTING HILL.

When Crystal MacLeod, a Canadian cowgirl with trust issues, collides with a charmingly lazy English cricketer, sparks fly faster than rogue fireworks. She’s all grit, glory and rhinestone glamour; he’s all tweed and warm ale, with a talent for avoiding effort at all costs.

Both are running from the expectations of their worlds, but when fate ropes them together, those worlds start to spin out of control.

Between culture clashes, cowboy boots and cricket bats, will they learn that love isn’t a game or a rodeo routine? And that maybe – just maybe – falling for each other is the only thing that will set them free…

For fans of British romantic comedies like Notting Hill and transatlantic love stories, Lassoed by Fate is a wonderfully witty, heart-tuggingly romantic and community-spirited comedy that proves that when fate ropes you in, there’s no escaping a love this wild.

Doug is a storyteller, adventurer and cultural nomad. Born and raised in Canada, he has worked around the world and now calls the small English village of Brockham home - the setting for Lassoed by Fate. With an easy, natural voice, Doug finds humour in the ordinary and the absurd alike, crafting tales that offer both escapism and relatable characters. His writing draws on an eclectic life of ventures in business, theatre, the priesthood, the military and with a passion for polo - all of which shape the authenticity and richness of his tales.
