CHAPTER 1
Lady Peddy Bear was walking on the path on her way to the new Tea Room that Lady Marge of Mt. View had opened in the Land of Soldotna, everyone was talking how eloquent and proper it was and the decor and design was very lavish. She had heard that there was French brocade wallpaper, and long flowing drapes of emerald green with satin twists of gold ropes gathering them up in perfect folds just enough to let the warm sunlight in, but not to much to make a lady squint from the incoming sunlight, which everyone knows this would not be very polite for a Lady to squint. The small round tables were to be covered with formal Damis Linen tablecloths and napkins from Switzerland. Oh! Yes, they said every table had fresh flowers and scents of Jasmine came from the votive candles perfectly place around the Tea Room, it was all fit for the Queen of Sleeping Lady Mountain; and was to be in attendance for the Grand Opening.
Lady Peddy Bear knew that she would probably never get a table at the Grand Opening, but if she could only peer through the windows she would be very happy.
As Lady Peddy Bear continued on her journey through the Kenai Mountain Forest in the glorious land Alaska, the weather was getting very frightful. The wind was starting to blow and the spruce trees was howling with the long branches waving, to the Birchwood Trees were bending over with the storm that was brewing. The sky was getting darker and the blue sky was disappearing, and Lady Peddy Bear was getting very scared what was she to do? She was surely going to lose her new straw Tea bonnet with the wide pink grosgrain ribbon band with the pink roses and silk green leaves attached to it, her dress was made of the best Irish lien with a tiny rosebud pattern and the collar of white chiffon with a small cluster of pink rosebuds embroidery on the left side of the collar and under the dress was a white muslin pretty coat with English lace circling the bottom which hung just below the hem of her dress, the jacket of soft Mauve colored Quivet with buttons made out of tiny Starfish to keep her warm was going to get all ruin.
Suddenly, out of nowhere there was the answer; yes it is true what I see a little log hatch cabin built on the river, with candlelight in the window. She hurried as the storm started to drop large crystal raindrops.
She knock on the door as the door opened she was surprised to see an old gray face beaver. "Come in my dear", said Mr. Billy Beaver and "what are you doing on this path on such a blustery day". "Well I'm on my way to the new Tea Room owned by Lady Marge of Mt. View in the land of Soldotna. Well it must be wonderful Mr. Billy exclaim, your one of many I heard that is making this far journey to go to this marvelous Tea Room.
Oh, my forgive my manners, please sit by the fire and warm yourself, my dear; while I get us some warm spruce needle tea, and then you can tell me of this Tea Room. Lady Peddy Bear started to describe all the details. Pretty soon the storm had past and so had the time. Mr. Beaver said Lady Peddy Bear "why don't you come with me to see the Tea Room"? I have heard many stories of it, but I am old and slow, and would not want to slow your journey. "We would have plenty of time to get there the Grand Opening isn't until weeks away". Well "yes maybe I shall come with you".
So he put on his best green plaid bow tie and white stretch collar, and a large Green wool vest where he would latch his monocle chain through the button hole of the vest, and lastly his black derby with the Bald Eagle feather in the band, and with his Willow cane in hand off they went down the path toward Soldotna, anticipating the day when they would have tea and cakes at the Tea Room of Lady Marge of Mt. View in the land of Soldotna.
It was turning into a beautiful day the sky was turning a Morning Glory Blue with large white fluffy clouds, and the wind had calmed with a gentle warm breeze coming off in a distance from the Kenai River on my adventure traveling the peninsula.
As time tick by on the pocket watch in Mr. Billy Beaver's green vest watch pocket they past their time enjoying the view of wonderful wildflowers such as the Wild Roses, Iris's, and the yellow pineapple weed, dwarf dogwoods, and pussy toes, "Oh" said Lady Peddy Bear look aren't they beautiful why "yes", said Mr. Billy Beaver, and there in the side of the path was a large cluster bouquet of the Alpine Forget -Me -Not's. There very common you know in the Chugach Mountains this time of the year, said Lady Peddy Bear.
Yes, my dear you forget I'm much older than you. How silly of me of course you are. Please forgive my chatter; I'm just so excited about our journey.
As they were ambling up the path they came along an opened tundra meadow. And with out notice Lady Peddy Bear was hit with a powerful speed of whirling winds that made her dizzily twirl and fell down in the soft tundra grass. Hearing giggling in the high Fiddle Ferns, Mr. Billy Beaver, said" Come out you rascals and help this Lady up and apologize for your boorish behavior". Come out now or I'll come get you and thrash you with a Willow branch.
"Uh! Oh! We're coming, Good Sir," and we're terrible sorry Lady Peddy Bear, but we were only playing and did not see you we were running so fast, said the three young hares. Standing straight with their long ears and rather large feet and they were still only young gentleman hares. My, my what size would those feet get when their full grown? "Where are your guardians?" said Mr. Beaver. They must be informed of your lack of manners. Now ... now Mr. Beaver, no harm has been done, I have nothing broken and none of my new cloths were torn or soiled. But I would like somewhere to stay the night, as I'm getting very tired and hungry.
Oh ... please come with us our parents would love to have company, we live very simply nothing very fancy. It will be fine I'm sure, said Lady Bear. May I ask what your names are? We're Clydy Richy, and Johnny Arctichares. And our parents are Tiny and Gussy Arctichares. It's getting dusk we're suppose to be in before dark, so we better hurry it's not far just over there under the large Willow brush. So off the five went to met the three little rascal's parents.
Mama!! ... Papa!! ... we're home and we've brought company for you to meet and ask if they can spend the night, they're on a long journey, and Lady Peddy Bear is getting very tried, and Mr. Billy Beaver is getting wary too.
Hush ... you noisy youngsters. Welcome to our simple home Lady Peddy Bear and Mr. Billy Beaver. I'm Gussy Arctichares and this is my husband Tiny. "Hello", said Lady Peddy and Mr. Billy. Lady Peddy thought to herself what a quaint and lovable home and family. "I hope we're not imposing on your home", said Lady Peddy. "Of course not" said Tiny, both Tiny and Gussy were rather plump as well as the three children, it was obvious they had a good life here in the tundra meadow, and were good providers of the children.
"Lady Peddy and Mr. Beaver, I hope your not fussy we're just having some Shaggy Mane mushroom soup, and Blueberries muffins for dessert and some Spruce needle Tea.
"Sounds wonderful," said Mr. Billy from looking at his girth he loves to eat too. "That would be delightful", said Lady Peddy Bear. Was that was a delicious meal, "Thank you", said Lady Peddy. After helping with clearing the table, and dishes were done. Mrs. Arctichares was wondering all about the new Tea Room in the Land of...
