LOVE IMMORTAL: The Poetry of Love (1) (Pocketsbacks(tm) Collection)

"Love me when I die, I shall be near. Love me when I die, I'll be not far from here." - Edouard d'Araille

This is the 10th Anniversary Edition of Edouard d'Araille's classic work of romantic poetry 'LOVE IMMORTAL', originally released in 2015 as 'Love Immortal: La Poésie de l'Amour'. It has been completely revised for this new 'Gothic Edition' for 2025.

'LOVE IMMORTAL', on its release in 2015, was the first volume that drew together all the romantic verses of contemporary poet Edouard d'Araille from more than half a dozen works published over a 17-year period, including poems from verse cycles 'In a Short Space of Time', 'Out of these Eyes', 'Ground Zero', 'The Lost Verse', 'Words Can't Hold...' et al.

However, 'Love Immortal' is in itself a new verse cycle, which leads its readers on a 3-stage journey through the phenomenon of Love, including specially commissioned poetic works by Edouard d'Araille.

Classic works of romantic poetry featured in this unique anthology include: 'You I do not know', 'The Kiss of the Naked', 'In the Afterlight', 'Absinthe in Absentia', 'Yours Ever', 'Doors of the Night', 'The Last Romance' and 'Love Me When I Die'. Poems written especially for this collection include: 'Amour sans Espoir', 'Sorry am I', 'Bro ken' and the title poem 'Love Immortal'.

This poetry cycle is divided into 3 stages, with a prologue and epilogue. The three phases of 'LOVE IMMORTAL' are: 'Bound to Love', 'Heartache & Healing' and 'Love Immortal'. The focus of the poems in these parts is loosely indicated by their headings.

Part I, BOUND TO LOVE, journeys into the depths of love and adoration, how a soul can be all-consumed by love, the binding power of infatuation, as inescapable as any shackles or chains. Edouard d'Araille presents love as an unsolvable enigma - pure emotion that cannot be comprehended by reason.

Part II, HEARTACHE & HEALING, travels further toward the heart of love and the experience of emotional pain, even suffering, due to the extent of love. Edouard d'Araille explores the healing nature of love; also how a broken heart itself needs healing, the ability to apologise and forgive.

Finally Part III, LOVE IMMORTAL, ventures on the boundless seas of love and considers how the power of love may transcend time and space, even death, so as to keep lovers together even beyond the mortal coil in which life unfolds. The eternity of love is reflected in poems of profound depth.

The transition through this multi-stage poetic journey of love is rendered even more stimulating and thought-provoking by several dozen specially composed romantic quotes that punctuate the volume from beginning to end, giving new perspectives on the different aspects of love.

'LOVE IMMORTAL' is presented here in a new Pocketback(TM) version of the 10th Anniversary Gothic Edition. Only 4" x 6" in size, it is ideal to fit in jacket pockets, handbags, portfolios and small carry-arounds of almost all kinds. The text presents a exact reproduction of the Gothic Edition in miniature.

The text of the original edition of 'LOVE IMMORTAL' has been completed re-edited and re-typeset for this fourth, new edition of Edouard d'Araille's timeless love poetry collection, presenting this one-of-a-kind series of romantic poems in a completely different light than ever before.

'LOVE IMMORTAL' in Pocketback(TM) is an ideal gift-book to give to one you love, whether or not they already love you. It is described by reviewers as "The most romantic book of poetry ever published " and "An unmissable work of poetry for lovers and those in quest of love".

"The heart has its reasons, that reason does not understand." - Blaise Pasc

Contemporary English language poet Edouard d'Araille, born in 1974, released his first volume 'In a Short Space of Time: A Verse Cycle' in 1999. His début collection was followed by seventeen other full-length publications over the subsequent quarter century. Edouard d'Araille's poetic style varies noticeably between his works, though it is fundamentally unified in the use of concise verses, straightforwardly engaging vocabulary and an energetic playfulness of verbal structures. One of Edouard d'Araille's most noteworthy recent works is 'Adapa's Ascent' (2020), a translation of the Adapa legend from Sumero-Akkadian cuneiform tablets into modern English verse, which includes his essay 'The Birth of Fiction'. Edouard d'Araille has previously translated work from French (Alain Robbe-Grillet) and German (Stefan Zweig), while 'Book of Jesus' (2024) is wholly based on the Koine Greek texts of the four New Testament evangelists. For those new to the writings of Edouard d'Araille, the volume 'Je Suis Poëte' (2021) - now available in a newly revised edition - provides a retrospective overview of 25 years of poetry, featuring core extracts from most of his full-length publications. Before embarking on a career in poetry, Edouard d'Araille directed the feature-length documentary 'Last Year at Marianské Lazné' [aka 'Hotel Marienbad'] (1998) about the literary and cinematic fiction of Alain Robbe-Grillet, a series of experimental short films entitled 'Déja Vu' (1999) as well as music videos for Irish singer-songwriter Johnny Cronin. He was screenwriter for the Arts Council film 'Subtitled', by Greek filmmaker Anastassios Kavassis, and is the screenwriter of forthcoming feature film 'Crime Trap' (2026). He lives in the English market town of Wem.
