Have you ever been faced by the overwhelming feeling of I DON’T WANT TO? Koko has. Koko doesn’t want to go home, Koko doesn’t want to go to sleep, and Koko doesn’t want to get up either! But Bo, the key caretaker and adult in Koko's life, is patient. Bo knows that Koko will come home when bored, go to sleep when tired, and get up when hungry―as long as Koko is allowed to learn through experience and to have the chance to figure things out. Koko & Bo is a familiar, smart, and surprising story about two people––one big and one small––quietly negotiating the relationship between freedom and trust to reach a better understanding of each other and the world around them.

Depicted as fluid characters, both Koko and Bo each break down gender stereotypes, allowing readers to easily identify with either character. As for the testing of limits and negotiations, those are universal to every relationship between two people who love and trust each other.
