Über diesen Titel

Inhaltsangabe:

Discusses the many ways in which people can help animals, ease their living conditions, and make sure they receive the proper treatment which is their right.

From School Library Journal:

Grade 4 Up-- Respect for all life is the basic dictum of this activist - oriented work. The text, although single-minded, is written in a lighthearted, breezy style, and never talks down to the intended audience. Some suggestions simply preach basic compassion, while others (about picketing fur use or returning products to companies that use animals in laboratory testing, etc.) encourage action. A few are unreasonable and even dangerous (children should not flag down motorists when they find a hurt animal, nor should they touch or move a wild or injured animal without adult supervision). And readers must understand that no one can do everything suggested, but that each single step helps. Librarians note: Newkirk tells children to seek help from libraries, and assumes that such help will be forthcoming. This is an important book, giving readers the message that they have the power to affect change, that compassion and caring are good, and that they are never too young to stand up for what they believe. --Eva Elisabeth Von Ancken, Trinity Pawling School, NY
