ARCHETYPE: The hero, the father, the king.
SHADOW: The overbearing person, themegalomaniac.
PRINCIPLE: The Sun embodies your intrinsic character, your central concerns, thearea and manner in which most of your personality development occurs. Itsymbolizes your path and goal, what is most essential to you. It represents theyang principle, consciousness, the mind, the will, activity, and vital energy, dynamic force, individual creativity and self-realization, radiance, warmth, motivational capability, courage, optimism, and impetus in life. Together withMars, the Sun embodies the masculine principle in the horoscope. At the sametime, the Sun reflects the fatherly masculine element which expresses theattitude toward one's own father, substitute fathers, and people in positions ofauthority.
STRENGTH: The self-confident individual. Powerful development of one's ownbeing. Makes a strong impression and has a striking personality. Healthy self-reliance,very lively, exudes warmth. Is hearty, magnanimous, creative, independent, and self-confident.
PROBLEM AREA: The overextended person. Either a self-aggrandizing exaggerationof one's own possibilities and a puffed-up, arrogant personality, or a frail,weak-willed, fawning posture with great difficulties in the development of one'sown essence, a late bloomer.
GOAL: The urge to become what one is, i.e. to develop individual character. Thesearch for wholeness, for the inner center, the true identity. The "journey of ahero."

THE SUN IN THE SIGNS
This has the same meaning as the description of the individual signs of thezodiac on pages 24 to 47.
Since the sun stands for the intrinsic character of a person, all of theessential features, such as the ARCHETYPE, SHADOW, MOTIVATION, and TASK IN LIFE,as well as what he or she STRIVES FOR, and the PITFALLS specific to each sign,EXAMPLES, and the typical GUIDING PRINCIPLE are to be found here. In addition,ACTIONS, THOUGHTS, and FEELINGS are described in their characteristic natures.Without specifically depicting it, the portrait resulting from the features isthe picture of a mature man, expressed as part of his self-image in thehoroscope of a man, and as part of the searching image in the horoscope of awoman.
The TYPICAL OCCUPATIONAL AREAS are those generally assigned to the respectiveastrological signs and not limited to the position of the Sun. They can also beaddressed by a noticeable grouping of planets within a sign or through Mercury, the MC, or other important configurations.
