An incisive look at the state of mental health in this country reveals the need to radically change not only the health care system but the entire economic structure. This is a common sense look at the history of health care, good and bad coping strategies, self-care for activists, and how to think about mental health, particularly during these times of complete madness and a dying economic system. This very accessible book was written by a Haitian immigrant who spent 20 years in the U.S. film industry (mostly driving people crazy) and 20 years as a licensed psychotherapist (helping people heal). He therefore enjoys a "20/20" vision of what good mental health does and does not look like.

Bernard Nicolas is originally from Haiti. He has been a parent, an activist, a novelist, screenwriter, filmmaker, photographer and psychotherapist. While at UCLA film school he was an active member of the group that became known as the "L.A. Rebellion".
