Rezension: Graduate school is tough--and so is the GRE. So it's difficult to resist a book whose authors advise you to treat the GRE as a game, "one that you can improve at the more times you play." Kaplan GRE is a thorough test-prep program to help you increase your score. The book contains strategies for mastering the GRE, including tips for both the paper-and-pencil and computer-based versions of the test (and the pros and cons of each). The authors urge preparation rather than desperation and offer advice on how to create a "test mentality," develop both your stamina and a positive attitude, and even reduce your stress levels. The heart of this book, however, is the "test content" portion, which provides directions, basic principles, solution advice, and a practice set of questions for each of the three multiple-choice-exam sections.
Lists of 100 tough GRE words and 75 key math concepts and a complete practice exam with full explanations complete the program. The one major flaw in this book is an error of omission--a promised "admissions section" doesn't actually appear in the book, though similar sections do appear in Kaplan's other test-prep books. The information that does appear in Kaplan GRE, however, is excellent--and makes this text a good choice for would-be grad students. --C.B. Delaney
