“Journal of my Forty-fifth Ascension” recounts Jean-Pierre Blanchard's pioneering balloon flight in Philadelphia on January 9, 1793. As the first aerial voyage in America, this historical document offers a unique glimpse into the dawn of aviation. Blanchard vividly describes the preparations, the ascent itself, and his observations of the landscape below.
