Jesus Is My Owner recounts the life story of Eugene “Scotty” Scott as he discovered the will of God for his life: doing Bible translation for the Sharanahua people. Living along a river in the remote, hot, humid, and gnat-infested eastern region of Peru, Scotty and his wife, Marie, were challenged to trust God in numerous encounters, including a fire that burned up all their initial translation work, a flood that destroyed all their goods, whooping cough and flu epidemics among the local people, efforts to contact an elusive nomadic people group, rescuing an abandoned female child, and a tragic airplane flight. Scotty also endured debilitating fatigue for ten of the years he was involved in the translation work.This book also includes vignettes of Wycliffe Bible Translators leaders over the years, including William Cameron Townsend, the mission’s founder, who lived in Peru for nine years. Townsend’s creation of the Jungle Aviation and Radio Service (now JAARS, Inc.) in Peru also affords many tales of flights and flyers facing the rigors of the Amazon rainforest.
