Artikelbeschreibung vom Verkäufer
[x], 460, [1] pp, illustrated (including several tip-ins), list of subscribers; thick 4to, quarter dark wine-colored cloth, gilt spine title, terra cotta paper sides debossed with an array of different Grolier Club devices used over the club's 125-year history. No. 186 of only 250 copies of the regular edition (there were 26 lettered copies and 3 hors commerce). Published in connection with the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Grolier Club, this massive work documents the hundreds of exhibitions mounted and publications issued over the years. The most lavish and elaborate production in the club's long history of fine printing, with numerous illustrations and tip-ins, it went out of print shortly after publication and copies remain scarce in the market. Typeset in a modified version of Giovanni Mardersteig's Monotype Dante; printed on Hahnemühle paper made in Germany; letterpress printing by Bradley Hutchinson; offset printing for the tip-ins by Thames Printing; bound by Campbell-Logan Bindery; design and production by Jerry Kelly. A near fine/fine copy: contents bright and fresh; a two-inch scratch and narrow one-inch abrasion on rear cover. Ong & Holzenberg P496.
