Jane Austen's Sailor Brothers. Dieser Artikel ist nicht verfügbar.Jane Austen's Sailor Brothers

First published in 1906, Jane Austen’s Sailor Brothers chronicles the lives of two of Jane Austen’s brothers—Francis, born 1774, rose to become Admiral of the Fleet, the highest rank in the British navy, while Charles, born 1779, advanced to Rear Admiral and became Commander-in-Chief of the East Indies & China Station.

Written by two of Francis Austen’s descendants, the authors show how Jane Austen drew direct inspiration from her brothers to craft the nautical scenes in Mansfield Park and Persuasion.

This edition contains the complete text and illustrations, along with extensive annotations, maps, timelines, and a family tree. The annotations help the modern reader navigate the geographic and political landscape, and provide insight into Jane Austen’s works, the Napoleonic Wars, and Jane Austen’s sailor brothers.
