FIRST EDITION, the frontispiece photograph of Joyce now loose, further plate (manuscript facsimile of passage from 'Ulysses', pp. [vi], 248, crown 8vo, original black cloth, lettered in blind to upper board and in gilt to backstrip, slight lean to spine, top edge black now faded, other edges toned, slight cracking at head of lower hinge, the dustjacket chipped, good. Inscribed by the author on the flyleaf, to a noted collector (and stockbroker): 'To Edward Naumberg, with friendship and best wishes, Herbert Gorman, Jan 13, 1939, N.Y.C.' Some light partial toning to the free endpapers. A very good copy in the most uncommon dust wrapper, lightly dust soiled, with some quite noticeable toning to the spine panel, and a touch of wear to several extremities with a single miniscule area of loss to the base of the spine panel.
