Inhaltsangabe:

My eldest son served over twenty (20) years in prison for using a play, toy pellet gun that children use every day. I want the readers to know that it can be very dangerous for your children to play with certain types of weapons, "play and toy" included. It depends when, where and how the toy is being used and whom it is used on. One of my missions and goals are to educate parents and teenagers on the insensitivity of the "NO TOLERANCE" atmosphere in society. I missed 20 years of celebrating his birthdays, 20 years of not having grandchildren from him, etc. I am not negating the fact that he did something wrong, I am adamant about explaining that my son served more time in prison than some murderers - IT IS UNJUST! I served twenty-one years (21) in the military. I have good family core values and taught my son "right and wrong"; he was enrolled in character building activities, such as Karate, Track & Field, Football, and he played music. If your teenager starts to make friends with peers that are going in a daunting path, then STOP! THINK! TAKE ACTION! In hindsight I would ask family members to have an intervention with my teen son. Your teenager will probably listen to his uncle, aunt, cousin or sibling when they will not listen to you. Take the appropriate action before it's too late. "Parents: please do not let your children play with TOY GUNS (plastic or pellet). It may land them in jail for twenty (20) years."

CHAPTER 1

I Am My Mama's Child

I am my Mama's ChildI am my Mama's ChildThank you, Thank you, Thank YouI am my Mama's ChildIf I did something to hurt youI am so sorry

You were always there for meI want you to be proud of meI want to Thank you, Thank you, Thank you I am my Mama's Child

I am my Mama's ChildI am my Mama's ChildYou gave me courage and strengthYou're the greatest Mama in the World.

Mama, Mama, I love youMama, Mama, I love youMama, I Love You.

Do you know that you can be shot down like a dog that stole something just becauseyou are playing with a plastic toy weapon (gun)?

Yes, you can!

It depends on the time, place, circumstances, etc. When my son was a teenager, eighteen years old, he became friends with the wrong crowd. It was late at night(near midnight), the police was knocking loudly at the door because a warrant wasissued for my son who had taken a bath. I all started around twenty (20) years agowhen my eldest son, Allister Leon, was eighteen years old. Allister had been votedthe President of the Student Council at a private and prestigious School in SanAntonio, Texas, Holy Cross Catholic School. It was a great school academically, socially, and sportsmanship. Allister had many friends and was very popular.

PRISONERS

Prisoners are people like you and me
They made a mistake and did something wrong
They need love, caring and to belong
The prisoners need rehabilitation
not manipulation
Education and counseling
May be the key
It should be mandatory
Before they can be set free
Teach them skills
To learn how to pay bills

So they won't steal
Take away their sob
So they won't rob
Send them mail
While they sit in their cell
Send them a book
To deter them from being a crook
I plead to this nation
Give the prisoners an education
Pray for them to make a positive change
and reach their full potential
It will be beneficial

POTENTIAL

Reaching your full potential should be strived
It is possible if you try
Articulate, investigate, facilitate
Negotiate, mitigate and do whatever
It takes
Apply yourself until there isn't much left
Determination under the whole person concept
Is a good start
Vertical achievement is your right
Take advantage with all your might

I served twenty-one (21) years in the military. Allister was five years old when hearrived at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware in 1975 after my mom, his grandmother(second mom), suddenly became ill and passed away in January 1975. Allisterwas four (4) years old and devastated. I was so saddened and hurt, hollow, andhopeless to have lost my dear beloved mother. My friend, Mary Stockton (latermarried to Gerome Thompson) accompanied me to Detroit to attend my mother'sfuneral. I am forever grateful for the compassion Mary had shown during mytime of grief and sorrow.
