Indian Country Today: Then and Now is a collection of stories written by Indigenous journalists at ICT that take the reader on a journey through its great legacy. ICT, formally known as Indian Country Today, is deeply rooted in Native American culture, values, and traditions. From the days of the Lakota Times as a local newspaper to entering the digital era and most recently expanding to the multimedia entity it is today, ICT continues to lead the way in authentic reporting. Indian Country Today: Then and Now begins with an introduction setting the reader up for Chapter 1, which contains stories focusing on the earlier days while highlighting the foundation laid by some of the pioneers in journalism. Chapter 2 reflects on stories of the newsroom’s growth, captivating audiences far and wide with expanded reporting. Chapter 3 provides background on Indian Country Today’s evolution, explains the name change to ICT, and defines the role of IndiJ Public Media in this new era.
