Ronan Macdonald has worked as a technical music journalist since 1989. He has written features and reviews as a freelance contributor to a plethora of magazines, including Future Music, The Mix, Hip-Hop Connection and Guitarist. He has also occupied the editor’s chair on Rhythm, the UK’s leading drummer magazine, and currently edits Computer Music, the world’s only dedicated music software magazine.
Rusty Cutchin is a musician, recording engineer, producer and journalist. As a journalist he has been technical editor of Guitar One, associate editor of Electronic Musician and editor-in-chief of Home Recording Magazine. As a recording engineer he has worked on records by artists including Mariah Carey, Richie Sambora and Yoko Ono. He has been a consulting editor and contributor to several Flame Tree books.
Founding member of the cult band Spaceman 3, Sonic Boom released several critically acclaimed LPs in the early 1980s. He has continued to stretch the boundaries of his trade with Spectrum and Experimental Audio Research. Lauded by many as a founder of the 'Lo-fi' music trend, his projects have always used many unusual and experimental aspects of music technology in order to capture the essence of his work.
