Ten Volumes. Blue, half morocco binding with cloth boards, gilt decorated spine and top edge burnished black. Minor marks to the some of the boards with faint sunning to the spines. Bindings generally firm, with some wear to the hinges of volume 10 and 4 and webbing visible. Internally clean and bright with no ownership marks. Illustrated throughout and with colour frontis pieces to volumes 5 - 10. The set contains almost 20,000 sepia photographs, diagrams and maps in total. Some information on the set is lightly tipped in to the first volume on the front endpaper. Originally published throughout the conflict in 255 weekly parts, this series forms a monumental history of the World War Two and was later reissued in bound volumes. The editor the series, Sir John Hammerton, had previously produced a similar series for World War One (though this is more commonly found). This is a heavy set and may require additional postage if being shipped outside of Europe.` 4to.
