Don’t let the page count of this safe, gentle, beginning chapter book discourage you. Large amounts of white-space, SEL lessons highlighted in red, short chapters, adorable color illustrations, and creative fonts make the Lindie Lou Adventure Series non-threatening and a tool that helps build stamina for all. This story has proven to be a classroom favorite as a read aloud, with small groups, or for large group instruction. This could be the first chapter book read by high-low readers, young fluent readers, or ELL students. The Comic Sans font (14 pt.) makes this the perfect choice for dyslexic, autistic, sight impaired, or other special needs students. The Lindie Lou Adventure Series is purposefully written for both boys and girls to enjoy. SUMMARY: Lindie Lou is about to embark on her biggest adventure yet! She joins Bryan who is heading to the Arctic with a team of scientists to study the northern lights and solar winds. While exploring with Nanook, a polar bear cub, Lindie Lou travels over the snow-covered tundra, while under the beautiful polar night skies. One of her favorite places to visit is a stunning ice cave. While there, strong arctic winds cause trouble for Lindie Lou. Can her new friends help her in time? There is an illustrated character page at the beginning of each book. Educational back matter includes the Lindie Lou Song, a Quick Quiz, Fun Facts, a Calendar of Events, and websites which easily allow educators and readers the opportunity to explore more.Teacher created downloadable educational materials are available for all the books in the series at lindielou.com.
Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Jeanne Bender grew up in Sheboygan, WI, the second oldest of 8 children. After a successful business career, Bender, who loves children, and loves to write, decided to create a fun, adventurous, children’s book series. Her goal was to provide boys and girls with easy-to-read chapter brooks at a second-grade reading level. Her aim was to encourage children to advance from picture books into their first chapter books without being intimidated. So, Bender chose a large font format, kept the chapters short, and included many color illustrations. At the time, Jeanne’s cocker spaniel named La Petite Lindie Lou, was traveling the world with her. Because of her puppy’s adventurous spirit and adorable personality, Bender decided to write the books about their experiences, and the Lindie Lou Adventure Series books were born. Her protagonist, a puppy named Lindie Lou, travels to a different place in each book, where she meets up with her brothers, sisters, and family members. They encounter new friends and learn social emotional lessons (SEL) along the way, which are highlighted in red letters in each one of the books. To prepare for her undertaking of writing the Lindie Lou Adventure Series books, Bender studied with a creative writing professor in Seattle, WA, took summer literature classes at Oxford University in the UK, and formed a group of elementary school educators to help her provide age appropriate content. Bender's ultimate ambition is to encourage children to discover the world through the joy of reading. Bender lives in Seattle, WA San Diego, CA and Cabo San Lucas, MX.
