This yearbook is a comprehensive review of events in rugby union over the past season and beyond. It focuses on international rugby but with a full coverage of domestic club rugby. This first edition includes: feature articles on the key issues in the game over the past year; a Rugby World Cup preview - full qualifying fixtures and results leading up to the 2002/03 tournament, plus a review of the 1999 World Cup; all the facts and figures from the major international competitions, from the Six Nations at home and Tri-Nations down under to the Lions tour of Australia and the inaugural World Sevens tournament; results from domestic club rugby; and full programme of fixtures for 2001/2002.

Mick Cleary is the rugby correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. John Griffiths is rugby's top statistician. Their previous collaboration was on the Rothmans Rugby Union Yearbook, published by Headline and universally regarded as the 'rugby bible'. This has now been discontinued, hence the opportunity for this new annual.
