Ten years ago, I opened the first book of poems written by Juan Farías Álvarez. As I began to read each page of the book, it felt like I was on a rollercoaster. My emotions were continually stirred as I read this book. Although some poems were difficult for me to comprehend because I am not a poem expert, I was definitely impressed overall with his writing.Over the past 10 years Juan has refined the art of his translated poems. Currently he interprets his Spanish poems into English with very little variation in the tone or the text of the poems. I have laughed, cried, experienced anger and other emotions while reading some of his poems. Juan is a talented writer and through his poems he allows the reader to be transported mentally and emotionally as they experience the very essence of each poem. Each poem is a work of art that only a poetic fan will understand. This is a sensational book to read more than one time.
