Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

Oversized hardcover. Originally had leather spine and corners with brown cloth over hardcover boards. The leather spine was damaged beyond repair, so we had it repaired with new brown cloth. There are new interior hinges front and back, and some paper repair to pages with chipped edges. New headbands added. Entirely rebacked and mostly resewn. Now clean and tight and attractive. 301 pages. Illustrated throughout with photographs of buildings and people. Rubberstamp on back of title page says "Duplicate, Withdrawn from [illegible] Society." Small white handwritter library-number sticker on front cover. No other library marks. On the inside front cover, there is a Reception Invitation pasted in, "Reception by the Medical Faculty of Howard University, Friday, January 27, 1898 at 8 pm." at the Opening of the New Amphitheatre. At the inside back cover, there is a full page advertisement tipped in, for the Freedman's Hospital, Washington DC, Training School for Nurses." Biographical list of graduates included many photographs, biographical list of officers of the University, plus university charter, history of each of the departments, and more. 301 pages. Howard University Medical department was founded in 1868. Please email with questions or to request photos. In warmer months we stay open until 9 most nights, but you might want to call ahead. (540) 373-6148 Shipping rates are for Media Mail, in a padded envelope - WE DO NOT ADD TRACKING UNLESS THE CUSTOMER REQUESTS IT AND PAYS FOR IT - we have been selling books online for more than 20 years & find that the USPO delivers 99.99% of packages quickly and safely, without any need for a tracking number. We trust them & we hope you will too. If you need tracking, please consider PRIORITY SHIPPING. We ship orders valued at more than $50 in a box, at no additional charge. Priority mailing is for a Flat-Rate envelope, with tracking included. If the book does not fit into a flat rate envelope, we will likely need to request extra shipping costs from you, in order to put it in a box. We only charge the actual amount of shipping, so we hope you'll understand that it's just a matter of getting the book to you without taking a loss on it -- shipping is a service we happily offer without a 'handling' charge.... but we can't afford to charge you less than the cost of the stamps!…
