Home Despot. Aspen and DuBois don't like their jobs. She works in a call center & he plays bass in a band for tourists at the amusement park. They do it to support their daughter, Rufi, who likes to read books and play with her dolls on the carpet. Plenty of people warned them not to rent an apartment from a friend. When Aspen's bestie offers the little cottage behind her new house, the summer shapes up to be "a time of jubilation." Aspen really, really, really wants home of her own, but housing prices are going through the roof. A freak accident sends them out on the road looking for answers, but maybe they've been asking the wrong questions. Surely, a revelation is at hand. They visit grandma who dabbles in magick, cross paths with a cult in Death Valley & meet an uncanny doppelgänger. Everything they do tests the limits of friendship. Facing inexplicable violence, they must decide if it's their punk rock past or safe suburban future that haunts them. The real questions are two-What do you want? & What will you do to get it?
