Original full dark brown tree calf. Raised bands, gilt numeral and ruling, and red gilt label per spine. 8vos (13 x 20.9cm). Cracked at hinges in both vols, though with all cords holding and hinges tender but stable. Front hinge of vol. I is slightly slack. Spine label to vol. I is lifting slightly. Wear to board corners. All edges speckled red. Vol. II rear endpapers cracked at gutters; otherwise endpapers intact but text block cracked at gutter after vol. I t.p., before vol. I rear free endpaper, and after vol. II front free endpaper. Worm damage to inside front board of vol. I, extending through vol. at outer margin to p. 41 (c. 2cm at start, then pinprick) with no loss to text. Worm damage to rear board of vol. II likewise extends back through vol. at outer margin to p. 227, with minor impact on some marginal notes. Minor worm damage to inside front and rear boards of vol. II, extending from front to p. 321 (largely as pinprick, very minor impact on text) and from rear to final page of index only, with no effect on text. Tear to vol. II ffep at fore-edge (extension of worm damage; together c. 3cm). Worth Abbey Monastic Library bookplates to inside front boards; bookplate of P. R. Glazebrook. Inscription, 'Bridge House / Dorchester / Oxon' in pen to inside fr. board of vol. I and to verso of ffep in vol. II; intials 'PH' to vol. I t.p. and verso of vol. II ffep. Owner's signature dated 1807 to blank front endpage of vol. I. Decorated initial; head- and tail-pieces. Index and errata page to rear of each vol. Very minor scattered foxing.
