Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good-. Spine and boards faded. The folding map has some creasing, and foxing along an outer blank margin. Small chip to blank lower corner of rear free endpaper. The plates are all in very good condition, all with tissue guards present. Provenance: Bookseller's ticket on front endpaper "Joseph Cook / Bookseller & Stationer / St. Andrews"; early owner's signature "William Gay / No. 14 James Street / Pittenweem / Fifeshire"; Later owner's signature "W. [Gary?]". (A nice local provenance.); Second edition. xv, [1], [17]-204, [4 (blank)] pages + frontispiece + 7 plates + 1 folding plan. Blind-stamped mauve cloth boards (faded) with gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Page dimensions: 191 x 114mm. 15 illustrations in total, including the map and in-text vignette illustrations. This work includes descriptions of the golfing links at St Andrews on pages 71 and 77-79, and of the golf club and golfing ground on page 169. Artikel-Nr. 20108
