Beschreibung:

Ancient India has nothing to claim as the spectacular political and military achievements of its national governments, like the wars of aggression against foreign power, territorial acquisitions abroad, colonial exploitation of foreign lands and the people, enslavement of foreign nationals or forcible conversion of the vanquished to their dogmatic creed on the analogy of the Arabic and Turkish religious crusaders of the medieval ages or the modern ?nation states? of Europe. On the other hand. Ancient India was ?a civilization state?; it served as ?the cradle of human civilization?, which not only nurtured on its soil one of the earliest civilized communities of the Homo sapiens but also made a substantial contribution towards the religious, moral and material advancement of many other countries of southeast and central Asia. To match the great military generals, conquerors, emperors, and other outstanding historic personalities of the world, like Alexander the Great, Constantine the Great, napoleon Bonaparte, Mahmud of Ghazni, Muhammad Ghori, Amir Timur and Changez Khan, etc; ancient India offers its role models to the readers in the persons of Ashoka the Great, Gautama Buddha and Vardhamana Mahavira with their eternal messages of love, peace, non-violence (ahimsa) and universal brotherhood. This is the one special feature of ancient Indian history and culture that prompts its authors to offer their work for the perusal of the global readership. Contents Chap. 1 : The Sources of Ancient Indian History Chap. 2 : Prehistoric Period Chap. 3 : The Indus Valley Civilization Chap. 4 : The Rig Vedic Age Chap. 5 : The Vedic Literature Chap. 6 : The Vedic Society and Culture Chap. 7 : Establishment of the Magadhan Empire Chap. 8 : The Relgious Reforms Movement Chap. 9 : Alexander`s Invasion of India Chap. 10 : Foundation of the Mauryan Empire Chap. 11 : Ashoka the Great Chap. 12 : The Sunga and Kanva Dynasties Chap. 13 : Foreign Invasions and the Kushanas Chap. 14 : The Andhra Satavahana Dynastry Chap. 15 : Foundation of the Gupta Empire Chap. 16 : Expansion and Consideration of the Gupta Empire Chap. 17 : The Successors of Chandra Gupta Chap. 18 : India During the Gupta Age Chap. 19 : Harsha Vardhana Chap. 20 : Kingdom of the South Chap. 21 : Northern India After the Death of Harsha Vardhana Chap. 22 : Triangular Contest for Supemacy Chap. 23 : The Muslim Invasions Chap. 24 : The Heritage of Ancient India Printed Pages: 0.
