A complete and comprehensive collection of the sacred texts of Hanuman.
Hanuman is one of the most revered deities in India, worshipped as Sankatmochan―the remover of hardships and suffering. In moments of difficulty, his name is often the first to be invoked, inspiring faith, strength, and devotion in millions of devotees.
This comprehensive volume brings together all the major sacred texts dedicated to Hanuman in one place. Each text is presented with the original script, a phonetic transliteration, and parallel Hindi and English translations, making this an invaluable resource for both devotees and readers seeking a deeper understanding of Hanuman's spiritual legacy. An index of the dohas and chaupais of the Sundarkand is also included, allowing readers to quickly locate specific verses and references.
Beyond the sacred texts themselves, the book explores many fascinating questions about Hanuman and his enduring significance. Among them:
- Why did Rama declare Hanuman greater than himself?
- Under what circumstances did Tulsidas compose the Hanuman Chalisa and Hanuman Bahuk?
- How many versions of the Sundarkand did Tulsidas write?
- Why is it called the Sundarkand?
- What is the significance of performing aarti after prayer?
Combining scripture, translation, commentary, and historical insight, this volume offers a rich exploration of Hanuman's life, teachings, and timeless relevance, making it an essential companion for devotees, spiritual seekers, and students of Hindu tradition alike.
