Handwriting Analysis through Syntactic Pattern Recognition: Basics, Concepts and Applications of LAT

This text book mainly focused on Hand Writing Analysis through Syntactic Pattern Recognition. It covers basics,fundamental concepts of Syntactic Pattern Recognition and the use of Look Ahead Tracer(LAT) in hand writing.This book also advocates the importance of Syntactic Pattern Recognition approach with an introduction of what is known as ‘Look Ahead Tracer’, a contour tracking algorithm as a part of an inference engine developed for recognizing characters, words and even real time objects from acquired digital images or their scanned versions. LAT works on digital images and extract knowledge from them. Knowledge about an image component is expressed as <x1,y1>/Rn*Dn*Ln*Un*/<x2,y2># where <x1,y1> refers to the coordinates of the starting point; the delimiter* denotes the change in direction; <x2,y2> refers to the coordinates of the end point of the contour component. LAT is used to extract and recognize handwritten single letters and single words from scanned images.
