Henry D. Janowitz, M.D., the founder and formerly Head of the Division of Gastroenterology (1958-1983), now named after him, is Clinical Professor of Medicine, Emeritus, at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is a recipient of the Julius Friedenwald Award, the AGA's most coveted honor, and the American College of Gastroenterology's Distinguished Clinical Achievement Award.
