In the Parable of the Seed, Jesus speaks about how lives are transformed when the seeds of God’s Word are planted in fertile soil. But what kind of groundwork best prepares the soil—the soul—of someone’s life? And how does true, transformative, lasting change really happen?

Authors Scott Larson and Daniel Tocchini ask, and answer, these questions about transformation in Groundwork: Preparing the Soil for God’s Transformation. Applying a combination of personal storytelling, research, and methods garnered from years of practice, the authors equip church leaders, counselors, and ministry professionals with tools to help people experience God’s transformation.

These methods for promoting active change in the lives of others have been successfully utilized in business leadership trainings for years, but are now being instructed through the lens of the Bible and Christian practice.

Dr. Scott Larson is president and founder of Straight Ahead Ministries, an international ministry working with juvenile offenders and those who serve them in 19 states and 5 countries since 1987. He has a Master’s of Divinity degree and a doctorate in Leadership Development. He is an adjunct professor at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Gordon College.

Daniel Tocchini is the founder of the Association for Christian Character Development (ACCD) and the creator of its transformational training offerings. Over the past thirty years, he has trained over 30,000 people. His client list includes Disney,
Microsoft, Seagate, Interstate Battery, ESPN, and World Vision.
