A tale of retribution, murder, and mystery, The Green Pool follows the adventures of a white wizard detective, Inspector Sandoval Carmichael, as he tries to solve an ages-old murder investigation in the midst of resolving a bitter dispute between two warring elf clans. On the world of Phoenix, elves, dwarves, and humans coexist, and tensions often erupt into violence. As a member of the Royal Bureau of Investigation, Inspector Carmichael has witnessed much in his career. But this new case offers a different kind of challenge. He has been assigned the delicate job of resolving an escalation of skirmishes between the Florian and Ileana elf clans¿no small feat. With the help of his loyal assistant, Hoagy Toogood, and his dwarf and human friends, Inspector Carmichael soon discovers that a diplomatic resolution rests entirely on his ability to solve the ages-old death of an elf maiden and her lover¿with little use of his limited magical power. Now, the stability of their world hangs in the balance, and it is up to Inspector Carmichael to keep it from crumbling. Combining the best elements of detective and fantasy fiction, The Green Pool delivers a fascinating and highly entertaining story from talented newcomer, Helen L. DiNapoli.
