Grantcraft: The Practitioner’s Guide to Strategic Funding for Public Service, Healthcare, and the Nonprofit Sector is a concise, accessible, and field-tested guidebook for professionals and students navigating the high-stakes world of competitive grant funding. Designed to serve as both a graduate-level course text and a real-world reference, this book equips readers to transform bold ideas into fundable, results-driven proposals.

Author David E. Fraser, Ed.D., MPA, brings over 30 years of dual experience as a public administrator and nonprofit executive, paired with more than two decades of teaching graduate students in public administration and healthcare leadership. A seasoned evaluator and trainer, he has secured over $25 million in grants and philanthropic support. His practitioner-scholar perspective makes Grantcraft uniquely suited for academic libraries, university instructors, government trainers, and professionals seeking actionable strategies rooted in both research and experience.

Rather than offering a formulaic approach or abstract theory, Grantcraft emphasizes intentional strategy, ethical communication, and programmatic clarity. Core chapters walk readers through the entire grant lifecycle—from needs assessment and funder alignment to logic models, budget development, persuasive writing, and post-award stewardship. The book includes a robust set of practical tools, including a grant feasibility worksheet, evaluation planning templates, and two full-length sample proposals for reference.

Whether used in classrooms, staff training programs, leadership development seminars, or professional writing courses, Grantcraft serves as a durable resource across disciplines. It is particularly relevant for those working in city and county government, nonprofit management, healthcare organizations, and graduate programs in public affairs and administration.

With its modular structure, strategic focus, and real-world insights, Grantcraft empowers readers to think like reviewers, write like advocates, and lead projects that secure funding and deliver impact.
