Sometimes the simplest truths are the hardest to remember. Sometimes we forget that Christianity is first of all about love, and that it begins with God's love for us, not with our love for God. A seasoned spiritual director, Fr. Max Oliva knows how easy it is to get caught up in ourselves and lose track of God. With genuine simplicity and directness he reminds us of the many ways we experience God's love. The forthright sharing of his own experience is complemented by the sharing of seventeen lay women and men who offered their responses to his questions about their experience of God's love. "The way we encounter God changes depending on what is happening in our lives," Oliva says. "At one time we may be in dire need of God's mercy, at another, of God's power to heal. Sometimes we need to be reassured of God's providential love. When difficult times come, we depend on God to strengthen and protect us. Each experience comes from a God of many loves." God of Many Loves is an enriching journey of remembrance and discovery: encouraging us to remember all the ways God has been present throughout our lives and to discover God's love anew.
