The last in a series of four books, which provide an introduction to basic concepts, processes and problems relating to the environment, spanning scientific, technological, social scientific and philosophical approaches. Global pollution, due to the increased world population a nd industrialization, has become a phenomenon of the 20th century. The resulting environmental problems have become an international concern. The need for change in economic and social activities has resulted from the growing understanding of the natural world and the impact of human activities upon it. This book examines debates about international policies aimed at effectively tackling these issues and the difficulties of implementing them on a global scale.
