The Muslim invasions not only brought Islam to India, subjected its population to various kinds of barbarities and religious persecution but also left one third of Indian population converts to Islam. The Muslims and their clergy of foreign origin gave birth to two nation theory under the divide and rule policy of British government in India to prolong their rule which ultimately resulted in partition of India into Pakistan and Indian Union. The Hindu-Muslim riots that followed just before partition claimed 6, 00,000 lives beside resulting immigration of one hundred and forty million mostly Hindus and Sikhs.
