Ghost Walk explores the realm of the supernatural, but these are not "ghost stories" in the usual sense. They are tales of supernatural beings meeting with native people in the great deserts of the Southwest. They are narrated by actual storytellers, so there is an authenticity here not found in many such collections. The tribal tellers are Apache, Navajo and Havasupai. The stories themselves are life-affirming and suggestive of the mysterious realms beyond our sight but not our vision. The illustrations in soft pencil capture exact locations with a beauty that is typical of Sid Hausman's mature work.
