To survive a winter in the open in the rugged mountains of British Columbia requires knowledge and creativity, but most importantly, it requires determination and a will to live.

The novel Follow The River is a account taken from a diary, discovered by chance, which documents such effort.

Jerry McGee was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest where he was an avid hiker and amateur prospector. He was one of the founders and organizers of the Clark County (Washington) Search and Rescue in the early 1960's.

The novel Follow the River draws from these experiences. Jerry received his doctoral degree from the University of Northern Colorado. He retired from Oregon State executive service in 1991. He lives in Keizer, Oregon, where he is active in civic affairs having served on the City Council for twelve years. He is also author of the novel Whiskey Riley.
