In the first summer of Viagra, with the Lewinsky scandal exploding, the Costco Clinton helps sleep-deprived Flynn and his three-year-old twins throw cold cuts at the vegans, diaper-bomb the yuppies, and navigate the Tubes at Willie Weasel's, all while offering Flynn advice on fatherhood, politics, sex, handling the press, and living in the real world, "full of soul, and full of hope."

Meanwhile, Flynn's wife Emily, a busy urologist, seems to be treating half the men in Portland. Lilybeth and Tre struggle to accept their six-year-old son's emerging sexuality. And teenager Biko tries to keep his cross-dressing hidden from his over-sharing mom. As the hottest day on record comes to a close, an evening barbecue brings everyone together for exotic meats, troubling revelations, and more sharing. With cameos from Terry Gross and Angie Dickinson.

Flynn at Budokan is a wildly comic look at the ways we build, share and protect our inner 'side-worlds'. It is the first volume in a trilogy exploring how much we've lost in giving so much of ourselves away.

John Perron lives in Seattle with his lovely wife, Lisa. He has written a previous novel and screenplay and helps pay the bills by delivering the US Mail. Prior to entering that noble profession, he spent eleven years at home with his twins, Mika and Kenzo. At some point in that experience, it became not all about the author.
