Inhaltsangabe:

With its pristine white sand beaches rimming crystalline Gulf of Mexico waters, Florida's Northwest ranks as one of the top places to visit in the U.S. This stunning new book by photographer Michael O'Donovan and travel writer Robin Rowan reinforces the views of both residents and visitors that this region of sun and sand, forest and field is unique in America, filled with scenic vistas and limitless recreational opportunities. Pouring through the amazing photography and reading a little about the area s history, lore, flora and fauna and its amazing environment, weaves a spell of enchantment for the armchair traveler, and perhaps offers an insight into why much of this strip of coast is worth preserving. The book includes Perdido Key, Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, Navarre Beach, Santa Rosa Island, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Grayton Beach, Seaside, Beaches of South Walton, Panama City Beach, Apalachicola, Port St. Joe, Marianna, and Tallahassee and environs (Wakulla Springs, St. Mark s). The 200 miles from Perdido Key to Tallahassee are the most biologically diverse in North America. "Florida s Northwest: First Places Wild Places Favorite Places" showcases both natural and man-made attractions. Highlighted throughout the book are favorite tourist spots such as Gulf Islands National Seashore, Destin, Seaside and Wakulla Springs, but the authors intentions go much farther than its stunning photography. The book is a jumping-off point to encourage readers to get out and explore the entire region; to hike its forests, canoe its inland creeks and rivers and discover for themselves what an amazing place Florida's Northwest really is.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Michael O’Donovan drew from his thousands of photographs of the area over almost three decades. His last photography book, The Island, focused on Santa Rosa Island from the western tip at Fort Pickens to the Destin Pass.

Robin Rowan has spent more than 20 years as a travel writer specializing in Northwest Florida. She co-authored two editions of The Insiders’ Guide to Florida’s Great Northwest, which was the first book solely dedicated to the region.
