First Tuesday

When Jonathan Connor moved back home to Milwaukee, he did so in anticipation of working in the sports department at Channel 3 television. Broken promises and a suspicious accident conspire to thrust Jonathan, now substituting as a news reporter, into the midst of the most turbulent and violent election in Wisconsin’s history. Allied with veteran Milwaukee police detective Sean Quinn, the city's de-facto vote fraud czar, Connor searches for evidence to expose an insidious plot designed to steal this election, and thus the Presidency.     The fate of a Chicago congressman and the mission of a young Windy City politico with deep roots in Chicago Machine politics factor into the scheme. As the campaigns and their investigation unfold, moving inexorably toward the first Tuesday in November, the idealistic young reporter and the honor-bound police detective are aided in their efforts by an unusual source—a mysterious informant who communicates by sending letters written on three-hundred-year-old parchment paper.   Facing a violent adaptation of political dirty tricks and October surprises, the young reporter and the veteran detective find their resolve and courage tested on Election Day as they try to ensure that each and every vote is counted only once.
