Film-Predigten

Films carry us off on trips to many other countries, other times, other surroundings, other lives. And they can recount history. If viewers let themselves be swept away into such history, they will find plenty of stimuli to think about their own existence, human interactions, the chances and challenges of modern times as well as the meaning of life in general. There is nothing in us humans or in our world that cannot be shown in this medium. For this reason, it is appropriate to assisting the preacher in his endeavours. Sometimes a film provides an example depicting some experience. Or there is some Biblical reference in a sermon that provides impetus to point toward a film and its message and its connection to the Gospel.By looking at the questions of life and the way they are portrayed in film in light of Protestant theology, we provide orientation for the religious element while giving it a specific meaning through the role of film. Songs and prayers supply the proper surroundings for the sermon in the overall service. At the end of this volume is an essay concerning the basics of a theory of this sort of sermon.
