Facing life or death, Kim summoned her angels. They saved her life.

After a nomadic childhood as the daughter of a military veteran who treats his undiagnosed PTSD with alcohol, Kim survives the trauma of sexual assault, spousal abuse, addiction, and co-dependency to become a nurse and a runner. After re-marrying, she and her husband live happily with their three kids until an elderly driver mistakes the gas for the brake and slams Kim through the wall of an outdoor café where she's waiting for her order. In horror, Kim's fifteen-year-old son and twelve-year-old daughter witness the crash that changes their lives forever.

With shattered legs, Kim believes she is dying in the ambulance. Just then, a heavenly Angel appears and whispers unintelligible words over her body, dissolving all the pain and fear. Over many years, Kim endures dozens of painful surgeries. When she thinks her ordeal might be over, she is diagnosed with breast cancer and must undergo dozens more.

Despite her physical and psychological scars, Kim maintains her faith and strength with the support and compassion of earthly angels--her husband, children, mother, friends, and extended family. With their help and that of the Lord, she learns to heal, builds a successful business, and lives in joy with faith, forgiveness, fun, and lots of therapy.

Kim's remarkable story will inspire trauma and cancer survivors, as well as anyone seeking to face seemingly impossible challenges with grace and humor.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Kim spent her youth traveling across the country with her father's military career. She earned an associate's degree in nursing and business administration, then launched her own career as a critical care RN for over fifteen years. When her husband Rod got the opportunity to run a metals company, the family moved to Connecticut, where Kim became an elementary school nurse. In 2002, a freak accident ended Kim's very public nursing career. Her book reveals the numerous traumas she has overcome, including confinement to a wheelchair for five years (she had been a runner). Kim has now had over ninety surgeries to save her life and limbs, including a bilateral mastectomy in 2009 to treat breast cancer. Kim has used her talents and faith to move beyond every obstacle, even starting Miss Daisy Medical, a successful business Kim founded with her doctors' encouragement and input, so she could sell her innovative medical bandages to thousands of patients in need.
