Have you ever found yourself chasing an ethereal dream only to wake up and discover that you were the lead character in a God Engineered script? Try as you may, you will eventually learn that you do not control the narrative of your life. The overarching theme of "Fabulous at 50, Sensational at 60" A Guide to Aging Gracefully is mired in an acknowledgment that the "Will of God" is supreme! The author seeks to equip the reader with the skills and tools necessary to age gracefully. She begins with the premise that we all want to age; however, we struggle with the concept of "getting old." She pointedly reflects upon the fact that we cannot have one without the other. The author uses the sub-textual themes of Intentional Parenting, Moral Responsibility, and Spiritual Guidance to help the reader gain an appreciation for the reciprocal relationship between Gratitude and the concept of Aging. A quick read, each chapter is no longer than five pages and is dedicated to heartfelt stories about each of her parents that evolved into life lessons for her.

Why "Fabulous at 50" you may ask and not "Thriving at 30?" It is at 50 that the terrain of life begins to change sharply. As you find yourself confronted with the proverbial antidotes to life: illness and the death of loved ones in abundance, you will quickly come to the realization that the celebratory style that characterized your 20s, 30s, and 40s is gone. It is more a function of logistics than anything else; when the average person reaches 50 their parents are in their 70s or 80s, and so are their aunts and uncles. It is for this very reason that you should begin in childhood establishing, maintaining, and strengthening your relationship with God so that you are better equipped to cope with this change in terrain. If you are a young parent or someone who anticipates being a parent one day, this guide will serve as an excellent foundation for you.

Nestled against the backdrop of the Fruit of the Spirit and the Seven Contrary Virtues, this spiritual journey is designed to tug at your heart and encourage you to closely examine that person looking back at you in the mirror. The author portends that it is your relationship with God combined with your treatment of others that will help you construct a healthy moral barometer and moral compass, both of which inform the development of humility and gratitude. You will find that you are better able to appreciate the opportunity to grow older when you display humility and gratitude. The author ensures that you are provided a medium to reflect and grow by sharing relevant biblical scriptures, a short inspirational message and a reflection page for notes at the end of each chapter. These key features are empowering for the reader, and they fortify the strength of the book as a guide. It is the goal of the author to change the national narrative on the concept of "aging." Persons of all ages seeking to become a better "you", should join this author's "Call to Action" to change the cultural perspective, social narrative, and connotations associated with the word "aging." Read this book. You won't regret it!
