This edition is notable for featuring one hundred woodcut illustrations, alongside two hundred and two fables. These fables include titles such as "The Frog and the Ox", "The Peacock and the Crane", "The Lion in Love", "The Wolf and the Lamb", "The Fox Without a Tail", "The Fox and the Lion", The Wolf and the Crane", "The Wolves and the Sheep", "The Cock and the Jewel", and "The Boy and the Nettle", to name a few. This copy has 14 pages of the publisher's advertisements to rear, cataloguing their popular novels priced at one shilling each. Aesop was a storyteller who is thought to have lived in ancient Greece around the 6th century BCE. He is best known for his collection of fables featuring anthropomorphic animals that illustrate moral lessons of honesty, wisdom and kindness. These fables have become enduring classics, continuing to be shared with generation after generation. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart.
