Brooklyn-based artist Fabienne Lasserre (born 1973) describes her practice as "a stubborn action on materials"―creating freestanding objects made of clay, hand-dyed fabric, paper and metal that hover between painting and sculpture. For Lasserre, abstraction is a means to privilege lived and felt experience, implying powerful and fertile political metaphors.
