“What is faith and upon what do we build its foundation?” This pivotal question challenged filmmaker Tim Mahoney throughout his 12-year journey during the creation of his critically acclaimed film Patterns of Evidence. In this follow-up book, The Evidence of Faith, Tim gives readers a glimpse behind the curtain to his personal history and struggles of spiritual belief in making the film. Mahoney offers challenging and engaging thoughts spanning both the Old and New Testaments. Patterns of Evidence challenged both the archaeological and theological world, tying together the “rags and tatters” of Egyptian history to the Bible’s accounts of Moses and the Israelites, building the case that these events in the Bible really happened. The Evidence of Faith provides a connective understanding as to why your own belief must be based upon historical reality. Many archaeologists and theologians today agree that some of the early events in the Bible like the Exodus and the conquering of the Promised Land never actually took place. So why does the truth of Genesis through Joshua even matter to your Christian faith today? In If Moses didn’t exist, then Jesus Christ must have been a liar. Because if there was no Red Sea, then how could there have been a Resurrection? If the waters didn’t part, then did the stone really roll away?
